For anyone making commercial work with AI

Are you allowed to use the AI tools you're using?

Two separate sets of rules decide that, and most people have read neither.

  1. The licence the tool ships with — what you are allowed to do with what it generates.
  2. The law where your work runs — how AI-made content has to be handled once it reaches an audience. That differs sharply between Europe, Britain, the US and Asia.

We read both, for every tool and every market, and keep that information current. Pick the tools you use and a few things about how the work reaches people, and you get specific guidance on what is and isn't allowed — and how to reduce the legal risk in what you publish.

Every licence, read in full — including the companies that block you from reading theirs.
Seven markets, rule by rule — the EU AI Act, the UK, the US states, China, India, Korea and Japan.

Why should you trust this?

Because every passage we quote from a vendor's licence or terms is compared, character for character, against that vendor's own page every night — a string comparison, with no AI involved, so an invented sentence cannot survive it. Three AI systems from three different companies then judge independently whether that passage really supports the finding. If they don't all agree, we drop the quote rather than lean on it.

Think some of the information is wrong or outdated? Tell us, and we'll re-check it the same day. That goes for vendors too — if this misreads your terms, we'd rather hear it from you.

Step 1 of 3

Where do you make things?

Pick the models and places you actually generate — the app, site or setup you open. The same model can be fine in one place and forbidden in another.

Somewhere we haven't listed?

Tell us and we'll add it — it makes the next version of this more useful for everyone.

Step 2 of 3

Six questions

All one tap. They change the answers considerably — the same tool is fine for one company and forbidden for another.

Step 3 of 3

Where you stand

Each result is about a licence and a use, not about a company. It answers one question: do these terms, as written today, permit the specific thing you told us you're doing? A different tier, territory or use can change the answer. Nothing here says a tool is bad or that a vendor has done anything wrong.
